Smart wig

I am amazed at the crazy things I see in technology.  Sony has filed a patent for a smart wig that will "use sensors to detect everything from blood pressure to brainwaves."  This is still in the researching phase, who knows what will come of this.

Apple was granted a patent yesterday for technology that will recognize user's faces on devices.  I guess that not only will we have fingerprint scanning but now your smart phone will be able to detect a person's identity to unlock the phone.  No surprise this was coming!

Smart bra

From smart phone to smart bra....what's next?  Are they serious?  This is suppose to keep women from over eating due to stress!! Microsoft tried making one for men using underwear but it didn't work so well, it was too far from the heart.
Microsoft researchers have created a bra that detects moods in women and tries to prevent them from eating caused by stress.

Drone's

I love technology and how far the world has come in creating new things, but the cost of jobs is a downside.  The idea of 30 minute deliveries from Amazon is awesome!  So much for the post office, will there be any mailmen 10 years from now?

Apple's Touch ID Fingerprint Scanner

Imagine that! Trouble with the fingerprint scanner technology.  I think it's a great system for people who are concerned with privacy and the biometric technology isn't exactly new.  A lot of the issues are actually the fault of users who are not as knowledgeable of biometrics.

GPS wallets!

Wow, this will make great gifts, I would like to have one.  GPS tracking wallets, and just in time for Christmas!  Costs $99 and links to an app on your smart phone so you will be able to track where it is.  I think this is definitely good use of technology.

NSA spying

I just read this article on the NSA spying on people costing American Technology companies billions of dollars.  I wonder how Snowden feels about what he started and how this will affect his life.  Do you think he is happy living in Russia?  I don't agree to the loss of our freedom of speech or invasion of our privacy but I can't imagine selling my country out.

3D printing

I find the 3d printers to be fascinating.  Some of the things that people have been printing up is really cool. There seems to be no limit to the things you can make.  Last night on Grey's Anatomy they were printing body organs, is that what our future will be?  Will we be able to make body parts with 3D printers to use for saving someones life?  What about pacemaker's?  Will people still use them?  There has even been a gun made out of metal and it actually works.  Another fascinating article I read was about a 3D car, amazing technology.

Automatic Home Network

An interesting article today in Theregister.com.  Apple has been granted a patent for technology that will detect movement around the home and automatically change the settings of light switches or other household devices.  It will even turn on your oven at a specified time to preheat for dinner. We already have thermostats that work that way so it shouldn't take long to design a system to operate your entire house.

This is not a picture of it, they have just been granted a patent, but who knows how theirs will look when they complete the designing of it.

Tech Trek

The beginning of my journey into Technology

I decided to begin my blog off by setting the tone for my posts this semester, for my class in Internet Essentials, CIS 164. Each week of this assignment I plan to check out the latest in technology from social networking, smart phones, video editing, games and apps.
So....I have started my first semester of school, my journey into the land of computer technology and wondering where it will lead me.  Right now I am undecided as to what I want to do in my future with the knowledge I am about to gain.  Although I have used computers over many years I have been using a computer in my everyday life since 2005 and have learned many things along the way.
The last month I learned how to write my first program, its very exciting to me that I actually learned how to write a silly little program about a family of penguins.  After the last few weeks working with a program called Alice, we are going to be working with Visual Basic now.  Alice was simple to understand for someone who has no experience with how to write code and I'm anxious to see how the transition will be from Alice to Visual Basic.

My first entry

In this class I have learned a lot about searching the internet.  I thought I knew how to search but there are so many more ways that
things can be searched.
